Job Description
This is a full-time 40 hour a week position.
THE POSITION:
The Kennel Manager oversees the technicians and assistants assigned to the service. They are responsible for developing and maintain all safety protocols required by local/federal regulatory agencies as well as policies/procedures to ensure a smooth and effective flow of daily operations in the area. They provide workflow support, develop training materials and provide in-the-moment feedback to team members on a regular basis.
Some of the duties include:
- Oversee and execute daily operations in the service, direct and facilitate workflow to achieve excellent patient care and client service outcomes.
- Meet regularly with manager to work on strategic planning to maximize efficiency and profitability of service.
- Address client service issues as they arise to ensure clients are receiving high quality service.
- Prepare technician/assistant schedule to provide adequate staff coverage throughout day.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding and orientation of all staff.
- Identify and implement retention strategies including training and professional development.
- Provide employee feedback and complete performance reviews.
- Administer payroll, PTO, and timesheet approvals.
- Manage employee relations issues, consulting with HR as appropriate.
- Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and protocols including safety.
- Prepare annual budget with guidelines set forth by the Chief of Staff.
- Provide leadership for the service.
- Maintain all department equipment including negotiating service contracts.
- Maintain high visibility and availability to the department staff and specialty technicians/assistants.
- Fill in for kennel technician/assistant when scheduling issues arise.
- Mentor employees with regard to their professional goals.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
We are looking for applicants with 3-5 years of experience working as a kennel manager or related role and 1-2 years of experience directly supervising veterinary staff. As this position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, we require applicants to include a cover letter showcasing your writing skills.
