What Youll Work On

The Structural Heart Commercial Excellence Global Training Leader is the primary driver of all Leadership Development efforts with the Global Commercial Team. This role will report to the Global Head of Commercial Excellence.

The Global Training Leader is critical to the success of all Leadership Development efforts globally. This role is comprehensively integrated into the Commercial Excellence efforts as the primary stakeholder in driving our leadership development strategy. This role will own development, implementation, execution and measurement of this strategy globally.

The Training Leader will be responsible for partnering with the Geography Commercial Excellence & Commercial Leadership Teams to execute the Global Leadership Development Strategy and will play a key role in the change management process. This role will focus on the Sales Management Operating Principles, the Sales Leadership Academy, the Management Development Program and other development initiatives across the Structural Heart commercial teams. Developing skill sets of the current Sales Management team will be an essential part of this role, as will the onboarding of future Sales Managers to the curriculum. This will consist of sourcing relevant content, development of the training pathway, adoption of management tools and implementing standard management practices for all Sales Managers Globally in collaboration with the Geography Commercial Excellence Leader. The Training Leader will conduct/facilitate training events and group/individual training as per the development roadmap and as needed. This will include becoming certified on core training programs and delivering training modules to support Commercial Team members. The trainer-led events conducted by the Training Leader will primarily focus on the US and CALA Geographies, although the Leader will also lead training for the EMEA and APAC Geographies as needed. Direct Reports to the Training Leader will include a Training & Programs Manager (focused primarily on EMEA and APAC), and a Project Leader to support the Leadership Development initiatives, administration, communications and event coordination. Global travel will be required.

  • Ownership of the development and execution of the Leadership Development strategy.

  • Identify capability gaps across the commercial organization and develop training programs accordingly.

  • Creating development pathways, timelines, and measurement systems for the development of Sales Leaders (new and current).

  • Leading the change-management process within the geography for all Leadership Development initiatives.

  • Coaching and developing the Sales Leaders on the leadership competencies.

  • Achieving certifications in relevant curriculum to host a regular cadence of global training events internally.

  • Onboarding new Sales Leaders to the Sales Management Operating Principles and Sales Leadership Academy curriculum.

  • Reporting key findings, challenges, obstacles, areas of opportunity for development growth or management efficiencies to the Commercial Excellence Team.

  • Leading by example, comprehension of company sales management and reporting systems to ensure disciplined implementation of sales strategies, establishment of sales management principles, and management philosophies.

  • Auditing the current state and progression of each Sales Manager through individual field time, attending sales management meetings, and through other assessment measures.

  • Lead multiple projects concurrently and prioritize resources and timelines to optimize learners time out of territory.

  • Build, develop and lead a team of direct reports; instill a results-focused, positive team culture.

  • Leading by example the ability to formally and informally present or discuss Abbott Structural Heart mission statement, core values and objectives.

  • Responsible personally, for adherence to company values, ethics and legal obligations in the conduct of daily business.

  • Provides business consulting on leadership development to global commercial teams.

  • Participates as a member of the Global Commercial Excellence Leadership Team including annual objective setting, key project leadership, commercial strategy guidance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree.

  • Prior sales training management experience required; Minimum of 3 year.

  • Prior experience in medical devices required; Minimum of 7 years.

  • Ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment.

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to travel internationally.

  • Strong presentation, verbal, written communication skills.

  • Highly skilled in collaboration.

  • Experience working in a matrixed business environment.

  • Experience working in a highly regulated and high-quality system environment. Compliance with governmental regulations is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree.

  • Ability to communicate in multiple languages preferred, especially Spanish.

  • Demonstrated ability to define, refine and implement training processes, procedures and policies.

  • Proven proficiency in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving problems of all levels of complexity, prioritizing critical client issues and identifying department needs.

  • Ability to deliver high-quality training programs and present effectively in front of large audiences; Strong presentation skills are required.

  • Ability to administer the development initiatives, manage multiple projects, assess effectiveness, and implement a Learning Management System.

  • Ability to conduct research and creative analysis of development needs, and translate the results into actionable deliverables, messages, and presentations.

  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills; ability to work with a diverse team and influence/ drive change across functional and business boundaries.

  • Ability to develop recommendations and present concisely and clearly to senior leadership.

  • Successful track record of working effectively at all levels within the organization.

  • Business acumen: demonstrates strong interest in structural heart therapies, and related products.

  • Experience with systems such as Brainshark, Microsoft Office, Salesforce.com, Teams, Monday.com preferred.
