This Opportunity

WSP USA is looking for a talented individual to join our team as a Temporary, Part time (variable/on call schedule) Associate Consultant with a specialization in renewable energy and/or carbon markets to support the company's growing Sustainability, Energy and Climate Change Group. This position would work out of WSP's office in New York, NY or Boston MA, or remote options may be considered.

The individual will support client-facing teams in the design, implementation, and management of renewable energy purchasing, carbon market sourcing, and Environmental Justice initiatives for a variety of clients, including Global 100 corporations. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility and capacity to work on a wide variety of projects and the demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional teams. Candidates should be passionate about sustainability and climate, self-motivated and self-directed, collaborative, and able to produce high-quality work products.

Your Impact

As an Associate Consultant, you will be expected to join project teams, working under the guidance of experienced project leaders and subject matter experts to deliver sustainability solutions to our clients. Tasks will span a wide variety of disciplines and topics but are likely to include the following:

  • Participate on multiple projects/project teams concurrently to build client relationships and deliver positive client outcomes, advising senior-level clients on renewable energy and EJ issues.
  • Work on complex client delivery teams of internal and external stakeholders and provide technical direction and expertise
  • Collaborate with clients to design and deliver solutions to achieve strategic priorities for high-profile sustainability initiatives
  • Write professional technical memos, reports, and proposals summarizing complex concepts and project outcomes
  • Develop renewable energy and carbon offset criteria that establishes client prerequisites and preferences while aligning with leading frameworks
  • Communicating changes in renewable energy and carbon markets to a range of audiences.
  • Complete technical due diligence of carbon offset proposals, including avoidance and carbon removal project types
  • Analyze and derive value and insights from large data sets
  • Identify and evaluate metrics and tactics for tracking and achieving energy, GHG, Environmental Justice, and other resource benefits
  • Research and benchmark industry-wide sustainability programs and initiatives, including new renewable energy and carbon removal technologies and market innovations
  • Support business development activities with existing and prospective clients

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional consulting and/or corporate experience with a focus on sustainability, energy, climate, and/or environmental management
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, energy, sustainability, or environmental discipline required
  • Demonstrated experience with sourcing, developing, or assessing renewable energy credits and carbon offsets for leading organizations
  • Demonstrated understanding of how renewable energy and carbon offsets can be used to meet GHG reduction or net-zero targets
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence, and integrity: ready to learn and work on a team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop and present analyses using programs such as Microsoft Excel, Access, and Power BI
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and platforms

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $57,400 - $107,910

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
