Weyerhaeuser's Portfolio Strategy and Investments team is seeking a dynamic Investment Analyst to join our high-performing group of industry professionals. This is an opportunity for someone with a strong professional background and a passion for forestry to join a dedicated team of industry professionals, while also being able to make a significant impact within one of the leading timberland and forest products portfolios in the world.

As part of our team, you’ll be directly involved in both influencing the strategy and optimizing the value of Weyerhaeuser’s timberland, real estate, and wood products assets. Together, our group combines our diverse perspectives from forestry, economics, timber operations, corporate finance, investment banking, geospatial analysis, and real estate to guide decision-making. This role will be based in our Atlanta, GA office.

As an Investment Analyst, you’ll be integral to the success of our team, collaborating with experts across the company to strengthen Weyerhaeuser’s competitive position. You will gain broad exposure to various facets of our business and be expected to take on key responsibilities, including:

Valuation Analysis: Conduct financial modeling and lead valuation analysis to support our retail real estate program.

Timberland Market Monitoring: Analyze and track trends in industrial timberland markets, providing data-driven insights to inform portfolio strategies.

Portfolio Benchmarking and Assessment: Support the asset valuation and benchmarking of Weyerhaeuser’s 11-million-acre timberland portfolio, ensuring that our assets are accurately assessed and positioned.

Investment Thesis Development: Support the development of investment cases for strategic timberland acquisitions, dispositions, and related transactions.

Asset Value Optimization: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to evaluate alternative uses for timberland assets

  • Education & Experience: A BS/BA in Forest Management, Forest Economics, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or significant progress toward one is preferred. Typically requires 5 years’ experience of relevant experience.
  • Industry Experience: Knowledge or interest in the forest products industry, with a solid understanding of valuation, financial principles, and business strategy.
  • Analytical Acumen: Strong business analytical skills, with the ability to drill into the details and provide data-driven recommendations for strategic decisions. Experience with valuation methods and market research preferred
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and data analysis. Experience with GIS systems (e.g., ArcGIS) is a plus.
  • Strong Communication & Collaboration: Displayed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Driven & Accountable: A proactive, self-starter mindset with a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Curiosity & Problem-Solving: An inquisitive, solutions-oriented mindset with a strong desire to learn and innovate in the forest investment space.
  • Travel Expectation: This role requires 10% travel.

What We Offer:

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $74,600 - $111,800 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

We offer a pre-tax Health Savings Account option which includes a company contribution. Other benefit options are also available such as voluntary Long-Term Care and Employee Assistance Programs. Retirement: Employees can enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
