Our client, in the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) / Infrastructure & Energy Development is seeking a Instrumentation Field Engineer to join their team.

Job Title: Instrumentation Field Engineer

Location: Portland, TX

Pay Range: $40 - $44

Summary of the Position: The Instrumentation Field Engineer reports to the Lead Instrumentation Field Engineer and provides technical direction, support, and assistance for field construction and installation activities related to instrumentation systems and materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections and initiate documentation for system installations.

  • Support field supervision in determining manpower, equipment, and material needs.

  • Develop and manage short- and long-term schedules; coordinate with superintendents and other discipline engineers.

  • Execute material takeoffs based on Issued For Construction (IFC) drawings.

  • Report installed quantities to Project Controls using quantity tracking applications.

  • Prepare material requisitions; monitor purchase orders and deliveries.

  • Troubleshoot design issues and resolve through formal field documentation.

  • Ensure installation is per latest design drawings, specs, standards, and codes.

  • Coordinate technical issues with select on-site service contractors.

  • Complete inspection and test documentation.

  • Conduct final system walkdowns, deficiency tracking, and close-out.

  • Review and finalize as-built documentation.

  • Monitor actual performance against project schedule and budget.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering + 35 years experience, or

  • 69 years equivalent industry experience without a degree

  • Experience in field construction environments with codes, specs, and vendor procedures

  • Direct-hire heavy industrial construction experience

  • Effective leadership and team collaboration

  • Proven problem-solving in high-pressure situations

  • Industry experience: oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, power generation, or mineral processing

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)

  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards

  • Subcontractor management experience

  • LNG construction experience (especially on U.S. Gulf Coast)

  • BSAPs: Setroute, Unifier, Aconex, DSCS, PTR, Agile, Navisworks.
