Safety Coordinator

What You Will Be Doing:

As a Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs in our Indianapolis, IN plant.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):

  • Maintain and enforce company safety policies.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety trainings.
  • Trains managers and employees on work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Conduct safety orientation for new employees.
  • Perform jobsite safety evaluations.
  • Inspects branch facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Conduct accident/injury reporting, including identifying root causes and contributing factors.
  • Perform clerical duties related to the Safety department, including completing inspection logs and training certificates, and maintains safety files and records.
  • Implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.

Skills You Bring :

MINIMUM SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS include the following:

  • B.S. Degree in Industrial Safety, or 2+ years experience in a professional safety role in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to train other employees effectively.
  • Experience working with quality systems is preferred.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, safe performance of tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of the job.
