Job Description
Valley Radiology Consultants is looking for career-minded professionals interested in long-term employment in the medical field. The ideal Patient Services Representative (PSR) has strong customer service skills, handles themselves professionally at all times, takes pride in doing a great job, shows compassion to patients, is a committed team player, and has at least one-year experience working in a medical clinic or office as a scheduler/call center representative or front desk receptionist.
As a PSR, you will likely be the initial contact for our patients. The first impression you make on our patients highly influences the effectiveness and comfort of our patients’ experience. A caring and positive attitude, and a willingness to work as a flexible member of our team will make you successful at this job. Many members of our PSR team have been promoted to leadership positions within the company.
Pay range starts at $21/hr. Actual salary will based on years and quality of experience.
Hours: numerous shift options are available depending on location: 6:30 - 3:00; 7:30 - 4:00; 11:30 - 8:00; possible part-time shift of 3:30 - 8:30.
General Responsibilities and Functions:
- Greet all patients with a professional and courteous attitude. Respond to patient concerns in a positive and solution-focused manner.
- Accurately respond to requests and inquiries from employees, patients, and physicians.
- Guard and maintain confidentiality of patients in strict accordance with State and Federal Regulations plus VRC policies.
- Complete all training requirements and keep annual training certifications up to date for the entire duration of employment with VRC.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all departments.
- Demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete tasks and assignments, as delegated, to support the entire PSR Team in all functions.
- Perform front desk administrative duties such as: ensure phones are answered by the third ring, transfer calls to the appropriate person by connecting directly with needed party before releasing the call; enter patient data accurately and appropriately; copy, fax, scan appropriate information as needed.
- Work proactively with minimal supervision. Alert supervisor of urgent matters in a timely manner.
- Verify demographics for all exams, follow exam prep and protocols as set forth by Valley Radiology instructions.
- Possess intermediate knowledge of all Radiology Exams provided at Valley Radiology Consultants.
- Maintain Medical Records functions and requests.
Additional Responsibilities May Include:
- Schedule patients for radiology procedures as needed (MRI, PET/CT, Mammography, Ultrasound, Biopsies, IR procedures, etc.) in EMR (Electronic Medical Records), entering patient data accurately.
- Work with our Insurance/Authorizations team to gain accurate insurance authorization, eligibility, and denial information for our patients, and be able to communicate that clearly with our patients, referral sources, and co-workers.
- Call and confirm patients for the following day’s procedures. If a patient is missing a valid order, authorization, eligibility, and/or labs (as needed), this information needs to be tracked down by contacting the VRC designated chaser or referring doctors office. Inform patient of the estimated co-insurance/deductible/co-pay expected at time of service. Inform patient of any prep for the exam, if applicable.
- Manage call report and critical results follow ups in RIS.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 1-year experience working in a medical clinic or office.
- Proven customer service experience.
- Knowledge of basic Medical Terminology and Medical Procedures.
- Intermediate user of an EMR system and MS Office. Experience with MedInformatics (MI) is a bonus
- High School Diploma or GED.
