Job Description
Zelms Erlich Lenkov is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Insurance defense-in particular premises liability, legal research, drafting legal documents, and providing support to attorneys. To be successful in this role, you will need to be proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel. You will also need to be able to multitask effectively and essentially thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment. Paralegal Responsibilities:
Preparation of authorizations (medical, employment, accident reports, HIPAA, etc.)
Preparation of correspondence requesting copies of all records related to case
Preparation of line/page deposition summaries
Preparation of employment, medical and billing summaries/chronologies
Prepare medical indices
Preparation of exhibits for deposition and trial
Preparation of standard or routine Discovery requests and responses.
Preparation of Notice of Deposition or related IME Notices
Preparation of Notice of Hearing, Notice of Filing or other routine pleadings
Prepare Trial Notebooks Preparation of subpoenas (medical, employment, witness, etc.)
Review and sort documents, prepare lists of documents, etc.
Summarize Answers to Interrogatories/ discovery responses
Review of file to obtain general information (addresses, phone nos., etc.) Telephone calls or correspondence to medical providers to follow up on medical record requests
Reach out to experts to clear conflicts, and schedule IMEs.
Paralegal Requirements: Certificate of completion from an ABA-approved paralegal certification program of education and training, or an associate degree in paralegal studies. Associate degree. Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Must be able to effectively multi-task, manage time-sensitive documents and have exceptional organizational skills in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented environment. Office administration experience. 2 + years of insurance defense and/or litigation experience.
