Job Description
Venesco, LLC is looking for two Clinical Psychologists to support military members at the coveted Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA. Contract positions are an excellent way to get your foot in the door at government facilities! Military service members suffer from many mental health conditions including PTSD and suicidal ideation. Flexible hours - Psychologists may choose to work 4 ten hour days or 5 eight hour days Monday - Friday. No weekends! No Call!

Specific Duties - Clinical Psychologist. The healthcare worker (HCW) shall provide services within the scope of their competencies including:
1. Administer programs of treatment to mentally and emotionally disturbed individuals; help medical and surgical patients deal with illnesses or injuries.
2. Assist in treating rehabilitation patients.
3. Treat individuals in times of personal crisis such as a divorce or death of a loved one.
4. Interview patients and study medical and social case histories.
5. Diagnose and evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals and administer programs of treatment.
6. Perform clinical evaluations including administration and interpretation of psychological, neuropsychological, cognitive and personality tests, and provide clinical consultation regarding selection of psychological tests. The HCW may also be required to administer neuropsychological assessments and perform clinical evaluation and/or referral based on the neuropsychological assessment tool.
7. Communicate with family members and significant others in order to further the effectiveness of patient treatment and progress.
8. Provide diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to:
- Interviewing
- Major types of psychotherapy including: individual, group, and family psychotherapy, as well as appropriate psycho-educational classes
- Community outreach (e.g., health promotion and MTF consultation)
- Mental status examination
- Crisis intervention/management
- Case management and multidisciplinary consultation
- Medical discharge planning
- Psychosocial history taking
- Psychological test administration and interpretation
Requirements
- Degree: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
- Education: Graduate from an American Psychology Association accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology.
- Internship/Residency: Successful completion from an internship in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
- Experience: Possess experience as a Clinical Psychologist of at least two (2) years within the preceding three (3) years.
