We are seeking an Equipment Operator to operate a variety of medium to heavy equipment and trucks used in construction, maintenance and repair activities and performs a variety of tasks associated with the construction of PV array. This role reports to our Field Operations Department located at our headquarters in Jackson, Michigan. Hourly wage is commensurate with related knowledge, skills and experience, the pay range is $28.50 to $32.50 per hour. Purpose of Position Equipment operator operates a variety of medium to heavy equipment and trucks used in construction, maintenance and repair activities and performs a variety of tasks associated with the construction of PV array. This position requires resilience, people skills, selfmotivation, persistence, accurately following protocol, and teamwork to be successful. Qualified candidates will be able to multi-task, prioritize, work well with the team, complete tasks efficiently, and be highly organized. Major Responsibilities of Position
  • Operates trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading.
  • Transporting and unloading of various equipment, materials, supplies, etc.
  • Operates trucks and construction or power equipment, such as Semi with automatic and manual transmission, bobcat, skid steer, and post pounder
  • Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Reports need for maintenance of repair of equipment to supervisor.
  • Participates in construction and laboring work as directed.
  • Take action to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
  • Follow appropriate safety standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Exercises technical and functional skill set with one year experience of CDL No restrictions
  • Confirm utilities and other buried lines or structures are located prior to digging.
  • Perform legal operating procedures per OSHA and regulations without supervision
  • Operates, washes, services, and makes minor adjustments and repairs to assigned equipmentTake action to avoid potential hazards and obstructions for crew, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
  • Maintain the flow of work under minimal supervision
  • Train crew members on equipment and CDL guidelines and maintains documentation
  • Willingness for continued education and learning.
  • Professionally represent Harvest Solar as an ambassador to our vision, driving increased solar awareness.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Educational and Certification Background

1 High School diploma or GED Required 2 Valid CDL Drivers License, 5-10 years experience w/ability to supervise and or train Preferred 3 MIOSHA Certification, i.e., OSHA 30, ETC Required

Personal Competencies

(Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes):
  • Ability to stand, walk and navigate construction job site terrain.
  • Must have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; ability to work in various positions & environments, including but not limited to stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, pull and push materials and equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds or more on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to climb to heights and conduct work with proper safety restraints.
  • Visual requirements include the ability to visually inspect work performed,
  • Must have the ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily.


Work Environment

  • Travel Required 95 to 100% - Job site locations vary, therefore overnight travel is required. Harvest values our associates work life balance scheduling overnight travel Monday through Friday. Hotel and transportations costs are covered. Additionally, food per diem is paid for overnight stays.
  • Commercial Constructions Setting Up to 95-100% - Job site terrain and outdoor work installing solar systems working 10- and 12-hour days during installation with exposure to construction site hazards. Extreme temperatures during the summer and winter months can be expected.
  • Shop Environment 0 to 5 % of the time: Position supports construction and shop activities therefore, exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid and cold conditions.


Benefit Offerings

Harvest Solar employees are eligible for the following benefits programs:
  • Immediately after Hire:
    • Nine Paid Holidays per Year. Including: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve.
    • Paid Vacation: Vacation time is accrued each week at a rate of 1.5384 to achieve 80 hours in the calendar year. Unused vacation can be paid out and/or up to 40 unused hours can be rolled over at year end.
  • The First of the Month after the Date of Hire:
    • Health Insurance. The premiums are a shared expense with 80% covered by Harvest Solar and 20% covered by the associate via a weekly payroll deduction. Premiums are based on level of coverage, i.e., Associate only, Associate & Spouse, Associate & Child(ren), Family).
      • Option 1: UnitedHealthcare, Choice Plus HSA 2000 Plan
        • Members can seek care from in-network and out-of-network providers.
        • Preventive care covered 100% when received in-network.
        • Tier 1 Providers provide members the greatest value.
        • HSA compatible health plan. An HSA is a tax-deductible savings account used in conjunction with the health plan. Contribution limits are determined by the IRS. Harvest Solar will make the following weekly deposit into your HSA account based on the coverage options: Associate: $10.64; Associate & Spouse: $27.25; Associate & Child(ren): $21.65; Family: $37.55
      • Option 2: UnitedHealthcare, Choice Plus 500 Plan
        • Members can seek care from in-network and out-of-network providers.
        • Preventive care covered 100% when received in-network.
        • Tier 1 Providers provide members the greatest value.
        • Not an HSA compatible health plan).
    • Dental Insurance The premiums are a shared expense with 80% covered by Harvest Solar and 20% covered by the associate via a weekly payroll deduction. Premiums are based on level of coverage, i.e., Associate only, Associate & Spouse, Associate & Child(ren), Family).
    • Vision Insurance: The premiums are a shared expense with 80% covered by Harvest Solar and 20% covered by the associate via a weekly payroll deduction. Premiums are based on level of coverage, i.e., Associate only, Associate & Spouse, Associate & Child(ren), Family).
    • Group Life Insurance: $50,000.00 of group life insurance, with and Accident Death clause. Premiums are covered by Harvest Solar
    • Group Short Term Disability: 60% of your earnings, with a $1,000.00 weekly maximum, are available for injury or illness after a seven-day waiting period. Premiums are covered by Harvest Solar.
    • Voluntary Supplemental Programs: Accident, Critical illness, and Hospital Indemnity are available at the associates expense. Plans are organized through Allstate and premiums are paid through payroll deduction.
  • At 90 Days of Employment:
    • Paid Time Off (PTO): 40 Hours are available each year on January 1. PTO Is available to assist you in managing your time off work for personal appointments. PTO does not rollover, nor is it paid out at the end of the year, unused PTO is forfeited. In the first year of employment available hours are prorated based on your date of hire.
  • The First of the Month After 90-Days of Employment:
    • Harvest Solar 401k Plan: Associates are auto enrolled at a 3% deferral rate. The plan is administered by Vestwell. Auto enrolled contribution is invested in a Retire-On-Time plan. Once enrolled, the associate may make changes that include:
      • Increasing the Deferral Rate to the Applicable IRS Limits: A company match is available. When the associate defers 3%, Harvest Solar matches 3%. When the associate defers 4%, the Harvest Solar the first 3.5%. When the associate defers 5%, Harvest Solar matches the first 4%.
      • Changing the Account Type: Both a pre-tax and Roth account is available.
      • Changing the Investment Type: The plan offers standard plans to address risk or age of retirement, or the associate can customize their own investment.
