Blasch Precision Ceramics, Inc., produces and markets net shape ceramic and refractory components to a wide variety of industrial markets worldwide. These industries include specialty alloys, non-ferrous metals, chemical/petrochemical processing, power generation, industrial process heating and mining.

The proprietary Blasch Process is a unique, proprietary forming method developed to produce net shape and near net shape ceramic parts exhibiting very attractive physical properties. Many of the products produced by Blasch have complex shapes that could not be produced with other existing ceramic technology. As a result, several patents exist covering Blasch’s unique processes and technology.

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant is responsible for general accounting for BPC and MBOG. These duties could include any combination of accounts payable, cash receipts, invoicing, payroll, asset management, journal entry, inventory reconciliation and benefits administration.

All duties and responsibilities must be done with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Duties must be performed timely in accordance with monthly calendar with a goal of on time financial statements.

The Staff Accountant has access to highly sensitive data, and an extreme level of confidentiality is expected at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Accounts Payable and Purchase Order
  • Open mail, match to PO, obtain approval, input to GL and pay invoices weekly.
  • Apply proper sales tax law to all invoices
  • Record A/P to appropriate capital, prepay or expense categories
  • Coordination of freight – detailed allocation to inventory or ensure proper cost recovery from customers. This often requires tracking in spreadsheets to split freight costs between various inventory and operations.
  • Bank reconciliation.
  • Record international invoicing/purchasing for South Carolina and Mexico branches of business
  1. Inventory
  • Assist with monthly physical counts of inventory. Perform weekly cycle counts audits. Reconcile counts to accounting records and resolve discrepancies with management.
  • Maintain inventory bin and warehouse database. Discuss and develop procedures and processes with management to ensure proper recording of scrap, rework, etc.
  • Review proper set up of inventory codes with product category to ensure proper recording to the GL.
  1. General Ledger - Monthly entries and reconciliations
  • Reconcile Accounts payable to subledger
  • Maintain, record and reconcile all prepay accounts – insurance, real estate taxes and other
  • Maintain Purchase order database, assisting in determining future cash requirements.
  • Record monthly entries to include but not limited to: amortization, intercompany transactions, physical inventory adjustments.
  • Work with staff on expense reports and maintain monthly recording of travel expenses and ensuring proper back up and approvals.
  1. Support back up for Accounting Team
  • Record daily material and payroll allocations to Work in Process
  • Review and close Work in Process to Inventory
  • Record cash receipts
  1. Reporting
  • Maintain reporting as assigned
  • Maintain NDA database

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. The manufacturing plant is open 24 x 7; Sunday – Friday. Typical office hours are Monday through Friday; 8 hours/day, typically 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • 5 years of accounting experience
