Job Description
Colwen Design & Purchasing is in search of a Warehouse Manager who will oversee and manage the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of a wide variety of products. Our busy facility is approximately 100,000 sf located in Fitchburg, MA. Ultimately the manager will ensure all items are received, labelled, and stocked in the inventory management system and physically in the warehouse promptly. This person will ensure that all warehouse processes are running efficiently. We are looking for a working manager who will be on the warehouse floor at least 80% of the day, and will work side by side with the team to accomplish goals and deadlines for deliveries. Attention to detail, proactive communication with the purchasing team, effective planning and prioritizing and organization are the key attributes for a successful warehouse manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee receiving, shipping, warehousing, distribution and maintenance operations.
- Ensure efficient space utilization.
- Initiate, coordinate and enforce optimal operational policies and procedures.
- Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements.
- Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security.
- Manage stock control and reconcile with inventory management system.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers and transport companies.
- Plan work routes, assign tasks appropriately and appraise results.
- Recruit, select, orient, coach and motivate employees.
- Produce reports and statistics regularly (IN/OUT status report, dead stock reports, etc.)
- Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided
Required Skills:
- Proven work experience as a warehouse manager.
- Cycle counting/order checking.
- Expertise is warehouse management procedures and best practices.
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives.
- Self-starter and motivator.
- Hands on experience with warehouse management software and databases.
- Leadership skills and ability manage staff.
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Potential bonus opportunities.
Experience:
- Must have 5 years of related distribution experience; Experience with high level of SKUs.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds
- Must be computer literate and have knowledge of spreadsheets.
- Experience driving a box truck is a plus.
