Position Summary
The Fabrication Technician is responsible for assembling, shaping, cutting, and preparing metal or other materials to create various components or products. They work with hand tools, power tools, and machinery to fabricate parts according to blueprints, schematics, or work orders. The role requires attention to detail, mechanical skills, and the ability to follow safety procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Measure, cut, and shape materials (metal, plastic, wood, etc.) using saws, drills, grinders, and other tools.
- Operate fabrication equipment such as welders, press brakes, shears, and CNC machines.
- Assemble components using welding, riveting, bolting, or adhesive bonding techniques.
- Inspect finished products for accuracy, quality, and adherence to specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and machinery to ensure optimal operation.
- Follow workplace safety standards and procedures to prevent accidents.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other team members to improve processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Education Requirements and Skills
· High school diploma or equivalent (technical training is a plus).
· Experience in metal fabrication, welding, or manufacturing.
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
· Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and industrial machinery.
· Basic knowledge of welding (MIG, TIG, or Stick) is an advantage.
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
· Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials.
· Understanding of workplace safety protocols.
· Basic math skills required.
· Proficiency in verbal and written English.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of standing or walking.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facility.
Must be able to quickly traverse manufacturing areas.
Must be able to stand, bend, squat, kneel, reach overhead, push, pull walk and stand for a long periods of time
