What You'll Do

This position is responsible for keeping the ODJFS buildings and grounds safe and secure. This involves patrolling, both on foot and by car, to check for things like fires, damage, theft, broken equipment, and leaks, and making sure doors are locked or unlocked as needed. You'll need to report any safety violations or unusual incidents, and sometimes help investigate complaints, injuries, accidents, or thefts.

You'll also monitor the electronic security for all ODJFS offices statewide, and be prepared to assist in medical emergencies, which could mean giving first aid or CPR. Keeping an eye on who's coming and going, or monitoring security alarms, will be a regular part of the job.

You'll investigate safety and security violations, report any broken equipment, take away prohibited items, and issue warnings for safety rules. Keeping accurate records of your checks, visitor logs, and equipment issues is important. You might also attend training, use a computer for reports, and maintain files. If you're assigned to handle first aid, CPR, or use an AED, you'll need to get certified within your first few months and keep those certifications current.

To be considered, you'll need to be able to read, write, and speak English. If you're responsible and good at spotting and solving problems, this could be a great fit.
