DescriptionAs a member of the Global Legal & Compliance (GL&C) Strategy & Alignment team, you will inform executive cadences and agendas for the GL&C Executive Leadership Team (ELT), guide strategic decision making oversee time-bound strategic initiatives, and oversee the department's PNL, expense management and annual budget and financial planning processes in partnership with Corporate Finance and other enterprise partners. You will develop executive level presentations for various internal and external
audiences, including the LMG Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors. You will act as a liaison between GL&C practice groups (PGs) and teams, functional partners and corporate groups to drive increased collaboration, strategic alignment, and expense discipline across the GL&C department. This is a highly visible role with significant exposure to the GL&C Executive Leadership Team and other senior executives across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate for this role has a background in strong strategic thinking and execution, a proven track record and experience with delivering on department-wide budget and financial planning activities, reinforcing a culture of expense discipline, aligned to department to LMG priorities. This candidate should have the ability to lead cross functional projects, interface with senior leadership and welcome challenging situations and assignments.
Responsibilities
Strategic Alignment:
- Acts as proxy to GL&C Head of Strategy & Alignment in certain instances to inform decision-making in support of the overall GL&C strategy and alignment for the executive leadership team (ELT) and the department.
- Sets annual cadences and agendas with alignment from the GL&C ELT. Ensure focus on the most critical work and top strategic priorities.
- Supports external and internal requests and develop strategic presentations for the Senior Leadership Team at Liberty Mutual, to various audiences including Board of Directors and Leadership audiences.
- Maintains enterprise partnerships as a key point of contact for the GL&C department to deliver on enterprise-driven deliverables, mandates, and ad hoc requests on behalf of the Office of the Chief Legal Officer (CLO).
- Partners closely with Head of GL&C Reporting, Analytics & Data Science team to leverage data to measure the efficacy of strategic initiatives and make recommendations on opportunity areas to reinforce a consistent and concise GL&C story.
- Drives annual GL&C department goal setting & cascade process, ensuring alignment with LMG enterprise-wide objectives and coordination of cadenced review processes with GL&C ELT.
Legal PNL and Financial Planning:
- Manages GL&C annual planning cycle and strategy refresh, as needed.
- Leads annual budget cycle preparation, including coordination of needs/requests across all GL&C practice groups (Corporate and Staff Legal groups) in partnership with the Corporate Finance team, presentations to LMG CFOs and ELT with the CLO.
- Oversees, represents and delivers enterprise efficiency, operations and expense initiatives throughout GL&C to achieve enterprise priorities.
- Cultivates strong, positive, collaborative relationships as a trusted strategic advisor with GL&C ELT, staying on top of emerging needs of the business and embedding budgetary discipline in support of overall GL&C strategy and enterprise objective.
Execution :
- Leads time-bound key strategic initiatives by partnering with peers within Strategy & Alignment, Staff Legal, other and GL&C teams, building business cases/recommendations, and ensuring execution plans are clearly articulated to hand-off and/or execute.
- Partners with GL&C ELT and teams on Legal operating model transformations, driving successful execution and strategic alignment of models to GL&C priorities and business objectives/outcomes.
- Responsible for integration of new key performance metrics into GL&C department-wide performance management practices to monitor and maintain department health and realization of desired outcome.
- Bachelor`s degree required, MBA or Master`s preferred, plus 8+ years analytic experience required in a financial management environment with exposure to project planning and project leadership, modeling, cost benefit analysis; Insurance experience preferred
