Deputy Commentary Editor (Hybrid)

The Washington Times is looking to add an ambitious and sharp Deputy Commentary Editor to join our organization within our Opinion Department..  The Deputy Commentary Editor will assist in managing the solicitation, selection and production of unique and compelling commentary articles and op-eds that contribute to and lead current national political discussion and debate. The candidate must possess sharp news judgment, rock-solid editing skills and must show initiative and be a self-starter. 

The successful candidate will solicit op-eds from top conservative opinion makers in tandem with the news cycle to stimulate and mold public opinion on a broad range of issues. This position requires clear and effective writing skills and the ability to see opportunities in the news cycle and fill them with timely pieces. Must have passion for politics and policy as well as the skill and experience to edit opinion contributions for publication. This position is based in Washington, D.C. It also requires the ability to work well in teams as well as alone. 

Preferably, the ideal candidate will have degree with a journalism major strongly preferred. Five years of experience editing and writing opinion pieces. Excellent writing and editing skills.
