Job Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing duties timely and accurately to enable the Accounting department to meet monthly close deadlines and financial reporting requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Prepare and upload positive pay file via bank’s website (daily).

· Research and clear any positive pay exceptions via bank’s website (daily).

· Manipulate large amounts of data in Excel for analysis/reconciliation purposes.

· Perform various bank account reconciliations (monthly) and identify/resolve differences.

· Generate Carrier aged payable reports (monthly), reconcile to the general ledger, and identify/resolve differences.

· Generate Customer aged receivable reports (monthly), reconcile to the general ledger, and identify/resolve differences.

· Prepare Carrier bordereaux reports in Excel (monthly) by manipulating accounting system output into a format required by the Carrier.

· Prepare/post general journal entries.

· Post Company credit card statements to the general ledger (monthly), ensuring accurate coding.

· Prepare new customer set-up sheets (as necessary), ensuring accurate details.

· Maintain fixed asset subledger and record monthly depreciation & amortization.

· Assist with annual financial statement audit by gathering/providing information requested by the auditor.

· Analyze information by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying information.

· Answer questions by researching and interpreting data.

· Protect Company's value by keeping information confidential.

· Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least an Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • At least three years of accounting experience
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting
  • Able to easily and accurately manipulate data in Excel (using filters, pivot tables, vlookup, etc.)
  • Excellent accounting software user
