Job Description Summary:
Performs and all maintenance and repair for all customers in the Ohio Health System for imaging equipment. Installs, inspects, repairs, and calibrates all imaging equipment/systems as assigned. Performs preventive maintenance and radiation surveys as required. Assists in scheduling all work performed by other Imaging Engineering Specialists, and provides service training in consultation with the Manager of Imaging Engineering. Schedules service provided by Original Equipment Manufacturer.Responsibilities And Duties:
Establishes priorities to work completion in consultation with the Manager of Imaging Engineering. Will be expected to perform required maintenance of imaging equipment at any or all facilities in the Ohio Health System as directed by the Manager of Imaging Engineering. Assumes responsibility for preventive maintenance of Imaging Equipment X-ray, Nuclear, Ultrasound, MRI, Cardiac, Vascular, Mammography, Film Processors, and Laser Printer s as assigned by the Manager of Imaging Engineering. Performs preventive maintenance procedures according to departmental methods and standards and documents that information for future reference. Employs efficient and effective troubleshooting techniques to accomplish the assignments.Completes departmental and hospital documentation accurately and in accordance with departmental procedures. Acts as a resource for all Imaging Engineering Specialists in their assigned areas. Responsible for overseeing maintenance of imaging equipment in all clinical areas. Conducts electrical safety tests, functional tests and calibration verification on assigned deviations in test values to the Manager of Imaging Engineering. Provides on-call service for the maintenance of emergency/critical imaging equipment as required. Contacts Original Equipment Manufacturer or vendor if unable to personally effect repair in a reasonable period of time. Analyzes and performs major repairs on assigned equipment with instructional supervision as required.
Takes a higher profile and leadership role in completing required services than that expected from an Imaging Engineering Specialist Level 1 or Level 2. Attends training sessions on equipment maintenance and provides training to imaging equipment users on the safe use of imaging equipment in the hospital. Responsible for maintaining personal continuing education per departmental policy. Determines training needs for the imaging department in consultation with the Manager of Imaging Engineering. Maintains current knowledge and skills required for safe and effective use of personal computers, hand and power tools, calibration, and test equipment. Acts as a resource person for the Manager of Imaging Engineering in project implementation to ensure work completion and quality of work performed. Responsible for maintaining in good working condition, the equipment used to accomplish the daily maintenance of the imaging equipment in our hospitals and remote care centers.
Makes recommendations to the Manager of Imaging Engineering for the purchase of the test equipment needed to complete the day to day service of the imaging equipment. Will maintain a data base for equipment calibration to ensure all applicable test equipment meets all requirements for annual calibration and certification. Must have a working knowledge of all applicable codes, standards, regulations, and recommendations as promulgated by FDA, OSHA, JCAHO and NIOSH National Institute Occupational Safety & Health h , and others. Has knowledge of and follows personal/patient protection guidelines for radiation exposure as specified in Radiology Safety Policy, and possible exposures to ethylene oxide, formaldehyde, nitrous oxide, anesthetic agents, lasers, and ionizing radiation. Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction as demonstrated by customer satisfaction surveys. Communicates with user department personnel regarding patient care equipment, problems, and needs. Completes assigned tasks to customer's satisfaction by coordinating his or her efforts with those of other service-related departments, contract vendors, and equipment users.
Has authority to order parts and supplies required for the emergency maintenance of all imaging equipment, and to recommend test, equipment and spare emergency parts, revisions, and/or additions for the annual budget to the Manager of Imaging Engineering. Works with the Manager of Imaging Engineering in recommending capital equipment replacements throughout the imaging departments. Maintains and tracks paperwork for the issuing of PO numbers and the associated paperwork of received parts and services. Assists in maintaining complete documentation of inventory parts, accessories, tools, and test equipment. Works in consultation with the Senior Imaging Engineer or the Manager of Imaging. Engineering when ordering parts and electronic components for imaging equipment. Responsible for compliance with OhioHealth guidelines pertaining to conflicts of interest through the raising of questions and prompt reporting of actual or potential wrongdoing.
Participates in and coordinates with any organizational process to collect and evaluate information about hazards and safety practices that are used identify safety management issues. Adheres to established policies and procedures which may include the wearing of personal protective equipment. Participates in and fosters a performance improvement approach that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities. Attends departmental meetings as required to assist in the improvement of the department's daily operation.

- Years of experience: 8-10
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
- Degree from four-year college or university in Electrical Engineering Technology; or twelve years related Experience and/or training in the medical imaging field working with eight years
- Experience in the imaging field working with an imaging related Original Equipment Manufacturer or equipment dealer; or equivalent combination of and Experience.
- Must have a background in computer networks, digital imaging and its access, microprocessor technology and operation.
- Must have recently worked with specialized imaging equipment such as CT, MR, , Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, or Radiation Therapy at the highest level of service. Must have demonstrated ability to be a leader and be a self-starter when it comes to solving service problems.
- Must have the required theoretical knowledge in radiology equipment testing, calibration, and repair effectively service our customer s needs.
- Must have a demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, physics, chemistry and mechanics.
