Job Description - Procurement Manager
Reports to: General Manager of Operations
Pay Range: $60,000 to $70,000 DOE
Working Hours and Availability: Full-time 9am to 5pm Eastern Standard Time, with occasional overtime

The Procurement Manager is responsible for ensuring timely orders and deliveries of materials and services to ensure that production requirements are met. The person in this role will be procuring for manufacturing and building vendor relationships to secure the best prices on products. As a startup company, employees may be requested to wear many hats.
The main duties of a procurement Manager include locating key suppliers, negotiating the company’s purchasing agreements, and planning and creating purchase orders (POs) to maintain adequate material flow based on forecasting. This includes following through POs to ensure timely deliveries, accurate receipts, and resolution of any supply issues to prevent material shortages or delays.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, create, and process timely requisitions and purchase orders for raw materials, sub-assemblies, and finished goods
- Sense of urgency surrounding procurement lead times, project planning, and cash flow
- Track orders and communicate delays
- Ensure on-time deliveries and managing delays for minimal impact
- Work with Quality Assurance for inspection upon delivery to ensure orders are filled correctly and that goods meet specifications
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and measuring suppliers’ performance based on cost, quality, delivery, and service level
- Communicate with suppliers and organize meetings and projects as needed to resolve supply issues
- Work with other internal departments such as finance, sales, production, and operations to resolve issues and concerns
- Initiate corrective actions on bad materials and following through the resolution with suppliers
- Research and identify prospective suppliers of assigned categories
- Analyze industry and demand trends and recommend new applications
- Work independently with clear timelines and deliverables
- Demonstrate flexibility, accuracy, and willingness to work within the constraints of a small business startup, which may include tight timelines, budget and cash flow constraints
- Initiative-taking in addressing errors and correcting as needed
- Present KPI’s on a weekly, quarterly, and annual basis to upper management
Required experience:
- At least 3 years in procurement, accounting and reporting
- A high level of technical aptitude, including ERP, procurement and accounting systems
- Microsoft Office and Google Workspace experience
- Intermediate Excel or spreadsheet skills
- Price analyses, source selection and justification experience
- Supply chain experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred experience:
- SAP
- Odoo ERO/CRM/Accounting Modules
- Project Management
Required Education: High School Diploma or related college degree
Working Conditions
- The procurement Manager will work in person or remotely with minimal supervision in an office or manufacturing setting
- Initial 1–2-week in-person training at the Johnson City production facility
- Annual trips to the Johnson City production facility for meetings and presentations
- Attend industry events if requested to do so
