Police Chief

The Town of Glade Spring, Virginia, is accepting applications for the full-time position of Chief of Police. The Chief of Police will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations, functions and activities of the Town's Department. Applicants must be a certified law enforcement officer and possess prior management experience. Experience in applying, managing, and overseeing grants is a plus. The Chief of Police works directly with the Mayor and Town Manager and attends all Council meetings. The Chief assists with preparation and management of the departmental budget. The Chief maintains an inventory of equipment and fleet vehicles. The Chief is responsible for organizing staff schedules, reviewing reports, and answering emergencies during his or her shift. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Mayor and Town Manager as needed. Salary range is $49,500 to $55,500 with full benefits including health and dental insurance, Virginia Retirement System (VRS) with Hazardous Duty Supplement, vacation, and sick time. Drug screening and thorough background investigation are required as a condition of employment.
