Our Millport, Alabama lumber mill has an immediate opening for a Team Leader for our night shift Weekend Operation. This is a full-time, non-exempt position and provides excellent growth potential and opportunities for advancement. Our state-of-the-art mill produces high-quality lumber used for residential construction throughout the USA. We are proud of our reputation for manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement!
The rate of pay is $33.59 per hour.
Key Functions:
- Total commitment to working safe and following all safety rules and regulations
- Interpreting work instructions adequately and successfully completing tasks as delegated
- Safe start up and shut down of equipment in assigned area of responsibility
- Relieve all workstations within the department and perform at production rates
- Complete monthly safety packets
- Coordinate the flow of production and help where needed
- Communicating with team members and leadership to ensure consistent exchange of information
- Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment
The following qualifications are required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Successfully pass APT Operations 2 Assessment
- Demonstrated safety and people leadership within a manufacturing facility. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with this in a sawmill and planer.
- Must be able work weekends, rotating schedules, and overtime to meet goals
- Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory or key leadership role
- Work related experience in leading and ensuring compliance with safety initiatives
- Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to raise performance by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development and instilling a continuous improvement mind-set
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Demonstrated basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and other Windows based programs
- Willing and able to work all shifts, including weekends
- Strong work ethic, good judgment and decision-making skills
