Clean Harbors in Anchorage, AK is seeking an Hourly Operations Supervisor CleanPack , a versatile role that combines field and administrative responsibilities . This position supports hazardous waste management operations, chemical packing, and regulatory compliance , while also handling logistics coordination, documentation, and operational support .

The ideal candidate will have a strong CleanPack background with experience in handling hazardous materials, preparing manifests, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations . Approximately 30% of the role involves CleanPack field duties , while the remaining 70% consists of office-based responsibilities , including manifests, profiles, scheduling, vehicle maintenance tracking, and other operational tasks .

A CDL is not required upon hire but will be expected to be obtained as part of long-term development in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
  • Perform CleanPack field duties including chemical packing, waste identification, segregation, and proper disposal at customer sites.
  • Prepare manifests, profiles, and regulatory documentation in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company policies.
  • Assist with logistics and scheduling to support operational efficiency, working closely with internal teams and drivers.
  • Monitor and track vehicle maintenance schedules, ensuring preventive maintenance and repairs are completed.
  • Maintain compliance in staging, storage, and transportation of hazardous waste through inspections and documentation.
  • Train and support personnel, ensuring proper PPE use, work plans, and regulatory training for CleanPack duties.
  • Assist in regulatory compliance, reporting, and audits for waste management and transportation logistics.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to optimize scheduling, customer service, and operational workflows.
  • Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules
  • Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements
  • Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
  • Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • Strong background in CleanPack operations (waste disposal, lab packing, regulatory compliance).
  • Previous experience in transportation, logistics, or hazardous waste management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in both office and field settings.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Must successfully pass a background check, drug test, and physical.
  • Perform physical functions per job requirements
  • Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position
  • Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • College degree in Chemistry or Natural Science
  • CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsements (or willingness to obtain).
  • DOT knowledge and logistics experience.
  • Leadership and supervisory experience.
  • RCRA/OSHA knowledge.
  • Previous experience in Environmental Services (i.e. remediation, abatement, emergency spill response, etc.)

  • Waste Disposal Comprehensive disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste at Company-owned facilities
  • Recycling Services Extensive recycling, reuse and reclamation options for materials such as solvents, chemicals, oil and electrical equipment
  • Chemical Packing Safe, efficient handling and disposal of the widest range of chemicals, including reactives and compressed gases
  • Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Services HHW collection programs of all types and sizes, facilitated by Clean Harbors expert personnel
