What this job involves - Process Mechanic supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. Performs preventative, standard and repair maintenance on process equipment and utility equipment, such as, bioreactors, water and CIP systems, pumps, agitators, gearboxes, bearing replacements and all mechanical equipment repairs. Assists site Chief and Lead Engineers in maintenance and repair efforts, as well as independently performing defined tasks.
What is the day to day?
Building Management
- Performs preventative, standard and repair maintenance on process equipment and utility equipment, such as, bioreactors, water and CIP systems, pumps, agitators, gearboxes, bearing replacements and all mechanical equipment repairs.
- Reviewing logs as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment; responsible for reporting problems/malfunctions on an as need basis.
- Strong understanding on UPS systems and generator functions, GMP, documentation practices, validation systems, instrumentation, process equipment, PSV, and oscillators.
- Ensures the availability of an adequate inventory of tools and other supplies to operate the building. Specific duties include but are not limited to preparing and submitting purchase orders requests, developing sources for stock materials and performing periodic checks of inventory levels and equipment conditions.
- Responsible for overseeing the activities of contractors working within the building either as representatives of the building itself or tenants operating within the buildings.
Safety
- Identify safety hazards within the building and incorporate the remediation of such hazards to ensure that the buildings staff and occupants work in a safe environment. Implement, administer, and manage safety training program.
- Ensure that compliance of all regulatory laws and guidelines are met as they relate to the operation of the buildings infrastructure. Responsible for alerting management of building discrepancies.
- Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the building including up-to-date building drawings and single-lines as well as documentation mandated for the purpose of maintaining regulatory compliance with Federal, State or Local law.
- Work with Local QRA & EH&S Management to ensure compliancy.
- Complies with all policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- LOTO, Lock out and tag out and knowledge of PPE
Administrative
- Update work order status in real time
- Utilize CMMS system Maximo for all work performed.
- Perform Vehicle Safety Inspection
- Escalating problems or issues to Customer and Manager in a timely manner
- Attend work and safety meetings as required
- Communicate and escort qualified vendor(s) onsite and oversee execution of work
Desired experience and technical skills -
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of applicable working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical.
- GMP or experience within the industrial pharmaceutical industry
Preferred
- HVAC Background would be fantastic
