Job Description


Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Pre-K teacher. This position provides instruction in the Jordan Center to three- and four-year-olds to achieve instructional objectives. This position is considered a mandatory reporter for the Department of Human Services.

Essential Duties

The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.

  • Provides classroom instruction for three-year-old and/or four-year-old students
  • Facilitates student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by planning and preparing lessons, assignments, and instructional materials using State of Maryland and Wicomico County Public Schools approved curriculum
  • Selects and uses appropriate instructional strategies including, but not limited to, lectures, group discussions, demonstrations, modeling and multimedia teaching aids to present subject matter to students
  • Implements best practices in early childhood education to create a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning
  • Maintains classroom management conducive to effective learning and takes all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Works collaboratively with classroom assistants, other teachers, the center director and liaisons from the State of Maryland and Wicomico County Public Schools
  • Addresses specific educational needs of individual students
  • Modifies instructional methods to meet student needs, including students with special needs
  • Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs, curriculum framework, and knowledge of human growth and development
  • Evaluates student progress using appropriate assessment techniques
  • Prepares and administers plans and builds upon students' skills for progression
  • Documents results and improvements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • One year of teaching experience with Pre-K
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills necessary to work effectively with students, parents and administrators
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor's degree in education and current State of Maryland teaching certification
Supplemental Information

This is a full-time 10-month administrative position that is grant-funded and includes an excellent fringe benefits package. This position follows the Wicomico County Public Schools calendar, and is expected to begin in August of 2025.

The starting salary for this position will fall between $55,000 - $56,274, depending on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.
