We are hiring for the following:

Position: Psychiatrist

Schedule: 8 hours of Telepsychiatry per week

Location: Roanoke City Jail

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage the daily operations of the prescribing of psychotropic medications to the mentally ill population

• Assess patients mental status and medical needs; based upon diagnosis, direct the formulation of treatment plans; monitor patients progress and modify treatment plans as indicated

• Communicate medical orders to the nursing staff

• Participate in case disposition and follow-up planning; provide medical case supervision and consultation

• Maintain records and provide documentation associated with services delivered

• Certify a patient for inpatient hospital or acute care psychiatric facility as appropriate

• Provide evaluations as required by the courts

• Serve on committees as appropriate and conduct staff in-service training

• Respond to requests from security staff as well as MEDIKO staff in accordance with MEDIKO and facility guidelines to include following the rules and regulations for employee conduct/behavior and chain of command set forth by the command staff at all times while working within the detention/correctional facility

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered state/commonwealth certified medical license

• Must have a valid and unrestricted DEA and NPI number

• One (1) year of Clinical experience required

• Board certified or board eligible

• Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved)
