Job Description
Be a dynamic public catalyst for LCCoA's work, impact and clients; create energy and excitement for our volunteer programs and help people engage/commit to volunteer roles; and serve as liaison to community organizations and persons who are potential volunteers.
The successful candidate will enhance volunteer engagement by implementing new strategies for recruiting, onboarding, supporting, and recognizing volunteers.
This position collaborates with various departments to assess volunteer needs, develop innovative roles, and ensure a positive and impactful volunteer experience, and coordinates a large number of volunteers to assist with multiple agency events that provide an exciting and engaging work environment.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
Recruitment, Engagement & Coordination of Volunteers:
Recruit volunteers for various volunteer opportunities. Utilize various recruitment channels including social media, community outreach, and local events to recruit volunteers to support programs and services offered by the agency.
Build strong relationships with volunteers to match viable candidates to open volunteer positions based on their skills, interests, goals, and agency needs. Regularly engages volunteers for future opportunities and ensures they feel valued through recognition programs.
Screen, interview, and onboard volunteers, ensuring compliance with the Lake County Council on Aging's screening policies (background checks, finger printing, etc.). Supports and supervises volunteer success through training and feedback, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
Maintains up-to-date volunteer records, including tracking volunteer hours and ensuring compliance with Lake County Council on Aging policies. Review and update volunteer position descriptions
Identifies and builds long-term relationships with community partners support programs, projects and/or events by recruiting and retaining volunteers.
Assist with management team project assignments and committee work.
Outreach Initiatives:
Participate in community meetings and events that promote awareness of the agency and the need for volunteers.
Prepare items for agency’s social media pages.
Write a quarterly article for the agency newspaper.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in human services, communication, or a related field.
Two or more years of experience recruiting, training and managing volunteers. Prefer Certificate in Volunteer Administration or willingness to obtain within 24 months of hire.
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, written & verbal communication skills; training & presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks/people simultaneously; demonstrates proactive approach to problem-solving, resourceful and demonstrates the highest level of customer/client service and response.
Ability to use typical business software and office equipment plus ability to learn and utilize volunteer software.
Starting salary is $20.00 – 23.75/hour (dependent on demonstratable skills and relevant knowledge).

Pay: $20.00 - $23.75 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
