Culinary Coordinator I

As a Culinary Coordinator I, you will play a key role in the coordination and maintenance of our kitchen operations. This includes assisting in food preparation, managing supplies, and ensuring compliance with health codes. Your efforts will support a variety of church events, making each gathering special.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As a Culinary Coordinator I, you will:

• Follow all SafeServ guidelines, i.e. wearing hairnets, gloves, acceptable hand washing process, etc. Keep informed of changing health codes and ensure compliance with current food service codes.
• Assist in food preparation and cooking for all non-catered events.
• Assist with ordering food for all events inclusive of catered events.
• Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the kitchen, storage areas, and pantry. Coordinate periodic deep cleaning of kitchen pantry and storage areas.
• Assist with pantry restocking to include kitchen staples, including coffee, sugar, sweeteners, and creamers; paper products, dish soap, etc.
• Support the tracking, monitoring, and re-order inventory of food, kitchen supplies, and equipment.
• Assist with planning, ordering and submitting timely purchase requests for kitchen staples to procurement staff.
• Assist with receiving and/or return deliveries and ensure balancing of receipt with deliveries.
• Ensure towels and linens used are laundered and available for the next use of the kitchen. Drop off and pick up linen from a designated commercial cleaner.
• Ensure proper refrigeration of food in the refrigerator and freezer, including discarding of old/outdated foods.
• Assist with décor, table settings, dining protocol and service coordination for events.
• Be flexible and responsive to unplanned and unexpected events requiring kitchen facilities use.
• Assist with all on-campus and offsite special events are coordinated efficiently and, in the manner desired by the requestor.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

We are seeking a professional with:

• High School Diploma or equivalent. Additional culinary training is a plus.
• Current State Safe Serve Certification.
• 2-3 years of experience in culinary program support or culinary coordination.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with database software.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Professional, courteous, and friendly, able to create positive relationships with a diverse group of employees, members, and volunteers.
• Flexibility, with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and mandatory Sundays.

Physical Requirements:

• Capable of regularly lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable standing, walking, and engaging in physical activities necessary for kitchen operation.
