Smyth is seeking a talented and motivated individual with a background in Manufacturing, Process, or Quality Engineering to fill the role of Operational Excellence Manager at our Wilmington, Massachusetts facility. The Operational Excellence Manager will drive and guide the efforts of exceptional quality production for the facility, leveraging their knowledge and skills in quality management, Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma to identify, define, and implement tools and processes for improvements that will deliver outstanding results for our employees and customers.

Key responsibilities for Operational Excellence Manager include:
- Implement, maintain and enhance company-wide quality programs; direct, oversee, and evaluate Smyth’s conformance to applicable compliance standards and customer specs.
- Review and drive Standard Work and Work instruction, to ensure processes are mapped and followed by all Smyth employees.
- Be an assertive advocate of using Smyth Operational Excellence tools, influencing to an outcome, to drive solutions in areas of opportunity, ensuring best-in-class practices and a culture of Continuous Improvement.
- Provide leadership and management in all Operational Excellence areas including BRC standards and certification and other corporate initiatives; prepare and maintain appropriate documentation for the Quality program.
- Act as a resource locally as well as with Operational Excellence global teams in problem-solving, analysis of data, critical thinking, and ultimately supporting the Facilities or business team leaders in driving decision-making for Operational Excellence.
The ideal candidate for Operational Excellence Manager must demonstrate:
- Strong leadership skills including the ability to mentor, guide, motivate, and train a diverse team of people to develop and elevate Quality, Continuous Improvement, Operational Excellence, and Safety levels across the organization.
- Knowledge of Quality Standards, Continuous Improvement, GMPs, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and the principles of Operational Excellence, and the ability to effectively capture and communicate internal and external quality performance data using quality statistical tools: IE Minitab, Excel, DPMO, and Sigma levels.
- Excellent relationship building skills, demonstrating respect for all customers and employees; ability to model and lead with trust and humility, building credibility, and actively listening
- Ability to create a positive environment to deliver outstanding results, accountability, and clear communication skills while presenting to all levels of internal and external customers.
- Understanding of the corrective action processes and the ability to utilize and manage the NCR system.
Education, Skills, and Experience for Operational Excellence Manager:
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Technology or related field; or extensive experience in lieu of formal education
- Required: 3+ years of direct work experience in an Operational Excellence management capacity, including all aspects of implementing and maintaining Operational Excellence programs in the Manufacturing industry
- Required: Experience facilitating Continuous Improvement teams focusing on workflow and Lean methodologies, utilizing Six Sigma tools to identify variation within or between processes.
- Required: Strong understanding & utilization of Microsoft Office tools
- Preferred: Printing Industry experience
