The Quality Control Specialist is primarily responsible in assisting with the maintenance of the quality management system by performing inspections and making process improvements, as well as supporting operations in training and various projects.
QC Specialist I
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensures compliance to internal standards and specifications for incoming and shipment inspections.
- Performs First Article Inspections.
- Inspects product to appropriate workmanship standards, work instructions and/or other specifications.
- Marks, tags, notes, documents and segregates material and workpieces that fail to meet specifications.
- Modify/develop inspection plans for both supplied and manufactured materials ensuring compliance to internal standards, customer drawings and PO requirements.
- Discusses inspection results with those responsible for the products.
- Interfaces with purchasing, engineering and suppliers in support of discrepant material resolution.
- Supports the non-conforming material process by ensuring compliance to process and part requirements as appropriate.
- Participates in the maintenance of the Quality Management System.
- Assists Quality Manager and others with SOP and WI development.
- Performs Process Audits under the guidance of Quality Manager/Quality Engineer.
- Recommends changes to process and procedures, which will improve safety, quality and efficiency throughout the organization.
- Recommends adjustments to the inspection, assembly or production processes as appropriate.
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications/Experience:
- Minimum HS Diploma (AAS preferred) and/or 1 year experience in manufacturing industry working in a quality environment.
- Introductory knowledge of drawings, technical documents, and manuals, ensuring that material, product, and parts meet quality standards and customer’s expectations.
- Self-motivated and a team player.
- Organized (time management skills).
- Ability to read and write English.
- Detail oriented.
- Able to use precision measuring tools.
- Knowledge of basic math and computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Access).
QC Specialist II
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Modify / Develop inspection plans for both supplied and manufactured materials ensuring compliance to internal and customer drawings and PO requirements.
- Performs Process Audits under the guidance of Quality Manager/Quality Engineer.
- Recommends changes to processes and procedures, which will improve safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the Organization.
- Recommends adjustments to the inspection, assembly, or production processes as appropriate.
- Discusses inspection results with those responsible for products.
- Interfaces with purchasing, engineering, and suppliers in support of discrepant material resolution.
- Assists Quality Manager and others with SOP and WI development.
- Drives First Article Inspections.
- Assists Quality Manager/QE with Customer Owned Property Return (COPR) process.
- Assists Quality Manager/QE with Returned Material Authorization (RMA) process.
- Assists Quality Manager/QE with CAPA process activities as appropriate.
- Assists Quality Manager/QE with NCR process activities as appropriate.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Minimum AAS (BA or BS preferred) and/or 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing industry working in a quality environment.
- Understands drawings, technical documents, and manuals, ensuring that material, product, and parts meet quality standards and customer’s expectations.
- Self-motivated, self-managed.
- Team player.
- Some problem solving with analytical aptitude.
- Willing to cross train in other work centers as required.
- Trains others as appropriate.
