Notable characteristics of Indiana job openings from the first half of 2019 include:

  • Top Hiring Industries: Transportation (103,019), Nursing (42,411), and Sales (38,140) had the most job openings, followed by Retail, Hospitality, and Technology.
  • Top Career Titles: Career titles in highest demand included CDL Truck Driver (42,589), Sales Representative (26,782), and Registered Nurse/RN (15,657).
  • Top Desired Skills and Credentials: Candidate skills and credentials most frequently listed in job ads included management skills (25,054), training and development skills (24,330), and commercial driver’s licenses (21,845).
  • Top Hiring Cities: Indianapolis unsurprisingly boasted the most opportunities (74,963), and Fort Wayne (21,082), Evansville (10,456), and South Bend (8,300) followed.
